Gen IV Tiger Project
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Tiger Century Aircraft applies fully developed technologies to 3rd Generation F-5s to create a highly effective 4th Generation Fighter/Trainer Family for a host of established and emerging mission profiles. These include:
The TF-5R “Red Tiger”
4th Generation Radar Adversary to provide low-cost support to F-22 and F-35 air combat training
The TF-5T “Agile Talon”
4th Generation Lead-In Fighter Trainer to bridge the gap between trainers and 5th generation fighters
The F-5MR4 “Agile Tiger”
4th Generation Light Combat Aircraft for US Allies when F-16s are too much but an AT-6 is not enough
TF-5 “Agile Talon”
Improved Aerodynamics/Flight Controls + Cockpit/Training Systems
TCA’s proprietary modification kit that transforms single-seat F-5 Fighters into dual-seat, high-performance Lead-In Fighter Trainers. After the modification is completed, the aircraft is given a new designation of TF-5 “Agile Talon” and is positioned to be the natural successor to the USAF T-38 “Talon” for the export market.
The TF-5 modification kit consists of four elements:
An aerodynamic modification that enhances flying qualities while reducing landing approach speed
An avionics modification that provides digital communication/navigation technology and modern controls and displays in the cockpit
A paradigm-shifting “virtual weapon system” airborne-embedded simulation technology that supports downloading of training from expensive fighters
An escape system modification that increases safety
Improved Aerodynamics/Flight Controls via:
Lower landing speed & increased maneuverability
Improved departure resistance & flying qualities
Increased structural life
Improved Cockpit & Training Systems via:
Modern Avionics and Man-Machine Interfaces
Radar removed and replaced with “Virtual Weapon Training System”
Zero-zero ejection seats
Increased visibility from rear cockpit
Removal of M39 Cannon
TF-5R “Red Tiger”
Radar Adversary
The TF-5R “Red Tiger” Radar Adversary features a Multi-Mode Pulse-Doppler AESA Radar and an upgraded cockpit.
Multi-Mode Pulse-Doppler AESA Radar
Replaces APQ-159 radar in the F-5E/F
F-20 Shark Nose Radome which allows an “F-16 size” antenna
Removal of both M39 Cannons
Addition of TCA’s Radar Cooling System to provide low cost, flight-proven solution to radar cooling issues
Upgraded Cockpit
Replaces old-technology Radar CRT with modern LCD with the latest Situational Awareness display formats
Minimum cost solution to meet customer requirements
F-5MR4 “Agile Tiger”
Multi-Role Fighter
The F-5MR4 Agile Tiger is a highly effective multi-role fighter with an advanced, 4th Generation Weapon System centered on a modern, multi-mode, pulse-Doppler radar. It features a supersonic airframe that is highly maneuverable, reliable and with a proven safety record and 20+ years of service life remaining. The aircraft is strongly supported by the US Air Force, is fully developed and certified, and is in daily operational service
